Let's Make Strides Againt Cancer

The Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) was founded in 2017 to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast and prostate cancer through education, sharing expert information and aiding patients by supporting cancer treatment centers.

In order to expand our mission and better serve our community, the Praise Out Cancer Foundation is excited about hosting the Praise Out Cancer Walkathon during the LakeFest 2020 Celebration at Santee Town Hall Complex, 194 Municipal Way, Santee, SC 29142 on Saturday, May 30, 2020. The registration begins at 9:00 am and the walk will begin at 10:00 am. Pre-registration deadline is May 16th.

LakeFest 2020 is being held in conjunction with the Crappie USA fishing tournament in Santee that weekend. In addition, there will be music, amusement rides, arts and crafts, food, and fun for everyone. Festival hours are from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. We are thankful that the Town of Santee has chosen Praise Out Cancer to be a part of their LakeFest 2020 Celebration.

Our POC Walkathon will give every participant an opportunity to encourage those who are fighting the battle against cancer, to remember those who have lost the battle against cancer, and to celebrate those who have won the battle against cancer.

The money raised during this walk will help us fund our well received, Praise Out Cancer (POC) Grant. Our POC Grant is a community cancer financial fund that seeks to help minimize a small portion of the financial burdens that come with breast and prostate cancer by providing financial support to patients, in our area, who are undergoing active treatment, so that they may focus on recovery and survivorship.

We feel the POC Grant is a priceless opportunity to offer cancer sufferers a brighter today. Our recipients have been able to use the POC Grants for a well-deserved pampering beauty treatment (massages, manicure, pedicure, etc.), dinner at their favorite restaurant, buying groceries, or gas to help with the extra driving to appointments. The choice is theirs. We just want to help lift someone’s spirits and make life a little more “normal”.

So, join us as we walk together to defeat breast and prostate cancer, as we raise awareness, to raise funds, and to raise spirits. From the opening ceremony to the post-walk ceremony, this event is a celebration of survivors and opportunity to remember loved-ones lost. It’s a day that shouldn’t be missed and won’t be forgotten.
