WE ARE COMMITTED TO BEING A BLESSING TO THOSE WHO ARE TOUCHED BY CANCER
WE ARE COMMITTED TO BEING A BLESSING TO THOSE WHO ARE TOUCHED BY CANCER
The Praise Out Cancer Foundation Team would like to express our sincere gratitude to the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Education Guide Training Program for recognizing our hard work and dedication with this certificate. Your encouragement serves as a source of inspiration for POC to continue striving for even greater accomplishments, and we are deeply honored to have your support. None of this would be possible without the help of God and the commitment of our friends who support the fight against cancer in our community. We are eager to continue serving as a conduit for providing information about cancer prevention, screenings, and treatment to our communities.
Thank You,
The Praise Out Cancer Team

ABOUT MOVENUP
Since 2007, Hollings community health educators have conducted a statewide cancer education program called MOVENUP using a “Train the Trainer” approach. This training covers cancer prevention, screening, and treatment options and includes a module focused on clinical trials and their vital role in developing new, more effective approaches to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Upon successful completion of training, community leaders serve as ambassadors empowered to share helpful, evidence-based information with members of their communities.
To date, MOVENUP has taken place in 19 primarily rural counties in the state with small groups of about 20 trainees per event. The more than 925 trained community leaders have now conducted educational sessions in their communities reaching more than 5,000 additional people.
The Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) is a 501c3 non-profit cancer awareness organization registered with the SC Secretary of State Charities Division: Public ID 46077. POCF was founded in 2017 to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by cancer by raising awareness of cancer issues through early detection, outreach, education, and support services in our communities.
The Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) envisions a community where more women and men are taking action to lower their chance of getting cancer by avoiding risk factors and increasing protective factors. POCF will seek to reduce the number of women and men who are diagnosed with cancer at its most serious later stages because they are aware of the steps that lead to cancer prevention. We will ensure that every person affected by cancer receives the best treatment, information, and support.
Since 2017, the Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) has regularly shared information about cancer prevention, screening, and treatment to help people reduce health risks and better understand the disease should they, or a loved one, become diagnosed with it. POCF does this through social media, public speaking engagements, and hosting informational events.
Through Praise Out Cancer’s annual fundraising events, we have been able to contribute to our local cancer treatment centers and other cancer awareness organizations, which provide diagnostic services and educational resources to underserved women and men throughout our community.
In 2017, the Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) began our mission with a benefit concert. This was an evening that will never be forgotten. POCF brought together fans of gospel music and cancer awareness supporters to have a real uplifting time. We called our event “Praise Out Cancer: A Gospel Benefit Concert," which is exactly what the artists and the audience did; they “Praised Out Cancer." This unique concert drew attention to the battle against cancer by spreading awareness about cancer health and prevention in our community. From 2017 until 2019, our concert not only raised awareness and raised spirits, but raised funds as well.
During the pandemic era, from 2020-2021, the Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) sadly announced that we were not able to host our “Praise Out Cancer: A Gospel Benefit Concert” in the interest of public health and safety. However, we continued our mission work by using social media and our newly developed website to raise awareness about cancer, promote cancer screening, and encourage early detection. During this time, POCF continued supporting our local cancer treatment centers and other cancer awareness organizations.
As the pandemic state of emergency ended, the Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) entered a chapter in its creative fundraising efforts. In 2022, POCF began its "Look Good, Feel Good Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness Charity Fashion Show and Luncheon." Our show featured models walking the fashion show runway that have been touched by cancer in some way. Every model comes together to celebrate more than fashion. They come together to celebrate those who are fighting, remember those who have passed, and support those affected by cancer.
Each one of our models has their own unique reason for walking the runway, from empowering themselves and others to raising awareness—they walk the runway with a purpose. Using fashion, our models are thanking God they don’t look like what they’ve been through and celebrating who they’ve become. Our runway will be one of faith, hope, and love. Our fashion show motto is: “Seeing courage spreads courage. Seeing boldness awakens boldness. Seeing fearlessness overcomes fear.” Our “Look Good – Feel Good Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness Charity Fashion Show and Luncheon” is now an annual fundraising event.
In 2024, the Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POC) held its first annual “On The Move For A Cure” Cancer Awareness Walk at the Vance Community Park, located in Vance, SC. This event was about “making moves” toward finding a cure for cancer. Walkers crossing the finish line marks another year that they are cancer thirvers.
Additionally, as part of our mission, our Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) established our POC Grant in 2019. The POC Grant is the Praise Out Cancer Foundation’s financial fund that seeks to help minimize a small portion of the burdens that come with cancer treatment so that patients may focus on recovery and survivorship. As of 2024, POCF has issued seventy (70) grants to individuals in our communities.
We feel our POC Grant is a priceless opportunity to offer cancer sufferers a brighter day. Our recipients have been able to use the POC Grants for well-deserved pampering beauty treatment (massages, manicures, pedicures, etc.), cover the cost of parking at treatment centers, dinner at their favorite restaurant, buying groceries, or gas to help with the extra driving to appointments. The choice is theirs. With our POC Grant, POCF is here to assist cancer patients in the midst of their battle, offering our help and encouragement and doing what we can to support them as they go into the fight of their lives. We just want to help lift someone’s spirits and make life a little more "normal." We want to remind them how much God loves them, and how important they are to God, and others around them. We want to serve them in whatever ways we can.
Finally, coping with cancer can be difficult. By offering help and support to individuals and families affected by cancer, we can help reduce stigma and increase understanding of the disease. By working together to raise awareness, support research, and improve care, we can make progress towards a world without cancer.
