About Us

Our Mission

The Praise Out Cancer Foundation (POCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to raising cancer awareness and providing education and support to individuals and families impacted by the disease. Founded in 2017 and registered with the South Carolina Secretary of State Charities Division (Public ID: 46077), POCF exists to bring hope and help to those navigating the cancer journey. Through early detection initiatives, educational outreach, and compassionate services, we aim to empower communities to take charge of their health.

Our Vision

We envision a world where individuals are informed, proactive, and supported in reducing their risk of cancer. POCF is dedicated to decreasing late-stage cancer diagnoses by promoting awareness of risk factors, prevention strategies, and access to resources. Our goal is to ensure that every person affected by cancer receives the knowledge, care, and encouragement they need not only to survive—but to thrive.

What We Do

Since 2017, POCF has been a trusted voice in cancer education and prevention, sharing vital information about early detection, treatment options, and survivorship. Our work includes:

  • Social Media Campaigns
  • Public Speaking Engagements
  • Educational Events & Fundraisers

We collaborate with local cancer treatment centers and support organizations—particularly those serving under-resourced populations—to help provide free screenings information, educational materials, and critical support services.

Signature Events

Praise Out Cancer: A Gospel Benefit Concert

Our foundation’s journey began with a song. In 2017, POCF hosted its inaugural event, Praise Out Cancer: A Gospel Benefit Concert, merging the power of music with a mission of awareness. This uplifting evening brought together gospel music lovers, cancer survivors, and supporters for an unforgettable celebration of faith, healing, and unity.

From 2017 through 2019, the concert raised awareness, lifted spirits, and generated vital funding. Though the COVID-19 pandemic paused in-person events in 2020–2021, our outreach continued virtually through online campaigns and our website.

Look Good – Feel Good: Charity Fashion Show & Luncheon

Launched in 2022, Look Good – Feel Good is our annual charity fashion show and luncheon spotlighting cancer survivors and supporters walking the runway with purpose and pride. This event celebrates life, honors loved ones lost, and promotes awareness in a vibrant, empowering way.

Our motto—Look Good – Feel Good—reflects the transformative power of self-confidence and self-care. Feeling good about one’s appearance uplifts the spirit, boosts self-esteem, and contributes to emotional well-being.

More than a fashion show, it’s a celebration of strength, survivorship, and the healing power of community.

On the Move for a Cure: Cancer Awareness Walk

In 2024, we launched our first On the Move for a Cure Awareness Walk in Vance, SC. This annual event is a powerful symbol of progress and unity in the fight against cancer. Participants walk in honor of survivors, in memory of loved ones, and in solidarity with those still in treatment.

Each step is a testament to resilience, hope, and a collective commitment to ending cancer. Proceeds support local education, awareness programs, and community-based services.

POC Grant Program

Established in 2019, the POC Grant Program is a compassionate initiative offering financial assistance to individuals undergoing cancer treatment. These microgrants help patients manage everyday needs, including:

  • Transportation to appointments
  • Groceries and utility bills
  • Self-care and wellness treatments
  • Meals and moments with loved ones

The POC Grant is more than monetary support—it is a message of love, encouragement, and faith, reminding recipients that they are not alone, and that they are deeply valued by God and the community.

Let’s Work Together

A cancer diagnosis can be life-altering—but no one should face it alone.

At the Praise Out Cancer Foundation, we are dedicated to walking alongside those affected by cancer through awareness, education, advocacy, and emotional support.

Together, we can break the stigma, promote early detection, and inspire hope in every diagnosis.

POC and MOVENUP

The Praise Out Cancer Foundation Team would like to express our sincere gratitude to the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Education Guide Training Program for recognizing our hard work and dedication with this certificate. Your encouragement serves as a source of inspiration for POC to continue striving for even greater accomplishments, and we are deeply honored to have your support. None of this would be possible without the help of God and the commitment of our friends who support the fight against cancer in our community. We are eager to continue serving as a conduit for providing information about cancer prevention, screenings, and treatment to our communities.

Thank You,

The Praise Out Cancer Team

ABOUT MOVENUP

Since 2007, Hollings community health educators have conducted a statewide cancer education program called MOVENUP using a “Train the Trainer” approach. This training covers cancer prevention, screening, and treatment options and includes a module focused on clinical trials and their vital role in developing new, more effective approaches to prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Upon successful completion of training, community leaders serve as ambassadors empowered to share helpful, evidence-based information with members of their communities.

To date, MOVENUP has taken place in 19 primarily rural counties in the state with small groups of about 20 trainees per event. The more than 925 trained community leaders have now conducted educational sessions in their communities reaching more than 5,000 additional people.
